PIRIOU sets up a new base in Algeria

On 16 December 2013 in Algiers, within the framework of a series of meetings to boost economic ties between France and Algeria and during the visit of the French Prime Minister, Mr Jean Marc AYRAULT, the Algerian state shipyard ECOREP and PIRIOU group signed a Public-Private partnership with the aim of creating a joint venture christened "ECOREP-PIRIOU".

This joint venture (ECOREP-51%/PIRIOU-49%), will aim to build and repair fishing and in-service support vessels on the Bouharoun site 40km west of Algiers. This operation is part of PIRIOU's strategy to connect with its customers outside France by setting up foreign bases, thanks to an alliance with a strong local partner, and using Concarneau as a technical and logistics support base.

In 2014, the repair activity on ships less than 150t and the construction of polyester units from 5 to 22 metres in length will continue. In the medium term by the end of 2015, after an investment and training phase, the shipyard will have the benefit of additional industrial capacity which will allow it to undertake repairs on ships up to 500t and to start producing steel and aluminium boats.
